Lee Kuan Yew Outstanding Award

On the 19th of August 2011, Ho Jun Chong (Sec 410) was one of the 5 students in Singapore who collected the Lee Kuan Yew Outstanding Award for Normal Course students from our Minister for Education, Mr Heng Swee Keat. Jun Chong was formerly from the Normal Technical stream and during last year's N Levels, he was the nation's top N(T) student, scoring straight A's in all his subjects are also earning a distinction in Elementary Mathematics which he took at N(A) level. Also, an outstanding section leader in the school's symphonic band, Jun Chong has truly exemplified the value of mindset for excellenece. 

 

This year, Jun Chong is in the N(A) stream and he has had to learn brand new subjects, mainly Additional Mathematics and Combined Humanities within the space of 8 months before he  sits for his N Levels. On top of that, a more rigorous syllabus for English, Mother Tongue and Combined Science added to the challenges he has had to face in the last 8 months. However, Jun Chong persisted and managed to overcome these obstacles as shown in his recent Preliminary Examination results. He will be sitting for his N Levels in 2 weeks time and the school wishes him and the rest of the N(A) and N(T) cohort all the best for the upcoming examinations.
